Photo by Shannon Morrow FISHING REPORT Lake Davis Ice fishing results are rat- ed as fair to off the charts for those anglers getting an ear- ly start to their new year of fishing. Access to the lake is good at the dam and on the east side road down as far as Mal- lard Cove. The ice is report- ed to be 5 to 6 inches thick; however, the thickness can change quickly and should be used with caution. Good success has been coming at the dam, Coot Bay and, if you're up to a longer hike, the area at the west side of the island. The hot bait has been a salmon egg- worm combination. Fish size has been running from 12 to 17 inches. Portola's Joe Wirtz and Mike Trukki reported catch- ing and releasing approxi- mately 50 fish up to 17 inches last week. They were fishing by the dam in water that is 37 to 48 feet deep. Tight lines.
