Playing at home, the Chester boys won 65-52, and the Chester girls won 58-44. Boys After a fairly even first quarter that ended with Abbey Schmidt leaps to defend an inbound pass. Los Molinos didn't give up and outscored Chester 18-16 to get within eight points by the end of the third quarter. The Volcanoes took care of business in the final period by outscoring Los Molinos 23-18 for a 13-point victory. Chad Durkin led Chester with 18 points, followed by David Ryn with 14, Jake Simms with 10 and Cole Fan- ning with eight. Simms shot six for six from the free- throw line. Ryn captured 11 rebounds for the Volcanoes and Durkin grabbed 10. Topher Taylor delivered eight as- sists and nabbed two steals. Durkin registered three blocks. Girls The Lady Volcanoes domi- nated early by taking a 14-6 lead at the end of the first quarter. Los Molinos outscored Chester by one in the second period, bringing the score to 27-20 at halftime. Chester outplayed Los Molinos 16-10 in the third quarter and 15-14 in the fourth quarter for a 58-44 win. Taylor Labosky and Abbey Schmidt each scored 14 points for the Volcanoes, and Natalie Peterson netted 11. Hailey Wilkinson led with 14 rebounds, followed by Schmidt with 11. Labosky claimed seven steals and five assists, and Seyonna Hedrick added five assists. The Volcanoes will open their league schedule by hosting Quincy Friday, Jan. 15. CALL'A-P00ROFESSIONAL0000TODM!
