Judith Wells, County Clerk Comb , from 9B Naiads to be We are writing in apprecia- tion of the paramedics of our LACC Fire Department and the staff at the Seneca Hospi- tal's Emergency Care Unit for their outstanding performance in helping us when our 2-year- old granddaughter, Leah, had a seizure. During the holidays, Leah became ill with the flu. Al- though we kept giving her liq- uids, she became severely de- hydrated. We didn't realize just how ill she was until she had a convulsion. We called 911 immediately. The para- medics were at our door with- in minutes. They performed a number of tests as she lay on the floor and then they rushed her to our local Seneca ECU. Dr. Ware and the ECU staff performed additional tests in order to pinpoint the cause of the seizure. They gave her a spinal tap to rule out meningitis. They did a CAT scan to rule out a tumor. They were very thorough. Leah got the best possible care. I.e.ah stayed in the hospital for two days, and while she will need additional tests, we feel she is out of danger now. I hate to think what might have happened if our local Coatm d ft m trol of the vehicle. If that happens, it will be a monumental loss and tragedy for the entire community. For those of you who voted no on Measure S, we beg you to reconsider if a similar mea- sure is placed on the ballot for the next election. The assess- ment of $10 per month that we were asked to approve is a bar- gain when one considers that it will save our hospital. It seems a very small price for peace of mind. Imagine a loved one having to be transported out of the area in the dead of winter in order to save his or her life. Every minute is crucial. Please help save our hospital and its emergency facilities. They deserve our steadfast support. There should have been a banner on the front page, as the meeting and publication dates were the same. In the past, the Portola Re- porter has published the same day as or has had events (earthquakes, fires, elections, etc.) occur post-deadline. But, the Reporter has also omitted important community events (including Lake Davis) and/or has featured pet pro- jects or Quincy news instead.
