Marcus Harden, a sophomore who has been a scoring machine in past games, was contained by Shasta to just four points. As head coach Randy Rick dipped into his bench he was also able to find scoring success from Pughsley's nine-point game, which came from a trio of three-point shots in the first and second halves. Freshman Nomso Nwachukwu also dropped a deep ball for three for the Eagles, while Derrek Gordon and Kevlin Swint each put up a deuce in the game. The men will play tonight at Butte. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. The squad's next home game will be this Saturday when FRC hosts Lassen starting at 7:30 p.m. FRC women's basketball Redwoods 73, FRC 71 Feather River sophomore Ashley Hibbard led the Lady ' Golden Eagles with 16 points in head coach Haley White's most recent loss, 73-71 to Redwoods last Saturday. In total, Hibbard added five baskets and a three-pointer, along with three shots from the line to lead for FRC, which is now 10-10 overall and winless in conference games. The game was exceedingly close throughout the entire 40 minutes of play, with FRC tying it up late in the fourth period --the Corsairs took the win by denying FRC a second chance to tie with only 11 seconds left in regulation. Three other FRC players were in double digits: Catharine Rees (12), Stephanie Miller (11) and Kaitlin Boyd (10) each stepped up for the Eagles in offensive output. Traci Strong led the squad in three-point plays with two from deep outside the arc. The Lady Eagles will play at Butte today, with tip-off set for 1:30 p.m. Sophomore Ashley Hibbard leads the Lady Golden Eagles in scoring during the team's 73-71 loss to College of the Redwoods on Saturday. Of the wrestlers taking part, Josh Greene took third place at 126 pounds, Noah Ray placed third at 132, Ethan Hicks took the silver in second place at 170 and Bram DeMartile earned third place at 285. It was Craig Martynn's day, however, as he took the gold in first place at 182. The win makes Martynn the first champion for Quincy since the wrestling program came back to life last year. Lane LaMar (152) and Nick Keely (160) were each one match away from placing. The Trojans now head to Fernley, Nevada, for a tough two-day tournament next weekend, says coach Cody Clayton.
