Fish size ranges from 12 to 18 inches. Most days produce five to seven fish in a two-hour period. Ice depth is reported to be 6 to 8 inches. The east road is open down to Mallard Cove. The favorite fishing lo- cations have been the south tip of Mallard Cove, Coot Bay and the dam. The baits of choice are var- ious colors of PowerBait, night crawlers and jigging. Fishing depth varies, with most anglers starting two feet off the bottom and work- ing their offering up two to three feet at a time until the fish are located. Tight Lines Report courtesy of Dollard's Sierra Market; 832-5251 Frenchman Lake Fishing has been great, with most fishermen fishing at the dam, about midday. There is still 8-10 inches of ice on the lake, and the road up to the dam is clear, but icy in some spots. The road around the lake is only acces- sible by four-wheel drive or snowmobile. Dan and John of Reno, Nev., caught seven rainbow trout at the dam. They were using nightcrawlers with a worm threader; make sure you get the worms up on the line.
