iil " - Ill|llll/ll,llillili |111 .~ leA Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2010 Feather River Bulletin Joshua Sebold Staff Writer : The Plumas County Board of Supervisors got into an interest- ing discussion about risks the county runs .by accepting grants for work on a reimbursement basis, one of which created a cash flow problem for the coun- ty budget last year. ' Ironically, the issue came up during an agenda item calling for the approval of a county health department grant. A grant handled by that de- partment was the source of the prior cash flow issue. In that instance an invoice for reimbursement was lost in a state department for several months when an employee moved from one office to anoth- er. Chairwoman Sherrie Thrall explained the item called for the creation of a fund that would be allowed to go into the negative in accordance with the rules for a reimbursement-based grant for H1N1 flu. During the past 26 years, we are proud to have built more than 70 homes and 100 garages in Plumas County, not to mention the hundreds of remodels, additions and insurance repairs we've done as well. With the change in the economy (specifically, fewer new housing starts), my business partner (and son) Donavon and I knew we had to change our business model. We're not going anywhere, and we still build new homes, garages and commercial buildings. So, in the past year we found there was a real need to assist homeowners in making their existing homes more efficient, attractive and valuable. We've helped lots and lots of people with all kinds of projects that might have only taken 15 minutes= to several days or weeks to complete. And, if we couldn't do their job, we'd make sure to connect them with some- one who could. It's that kind of service and satisfaction that will help take us through our next 25 years!!!
