Nick Fiegener, who was born in Chester and raised there through fifth grade, defeated Corey Griego, of Sultana, by a score of 5-2 to take the gold. Fiegener took eight tournament championship titles before advancing to the state championship. As a child, Fiegener wrestled with Chester's youth wrestling program where he learned fundamentals he would carry with him for the rest of his life. In fifth grade, Fiegener moved with his family to RenD, and eventually to his current home of Folsom. Fiegener's mother, Anne Marie Fiegener, taught at Chester High School for several years and his grandparents, Marilyn and Patrick Penick, still reside at Nick Fiegener poses after taking first in his weight class at the state wrestling championship in Bakersfield earlier in the month.
