Frank Richardson Portola Fair is Fair To: current County Assessor Re: My 1982 Boat and Tax izi- formation you requested Dear Sir, I have owned this boat for OVER 12 years; I paid the tax- - es on it years ago when I pur- chased it used. I also paid the fees to put it on the lakes around here ... as well as the trailer license fee, state registration fee on the boat to the state; are you try- ing to double tax me? Our forefathers would be rolling in their graves with the likes of you and the "Trib- ute" you seek. This country has gone to hell when you want to tax a 1982 beat-up, 15 fool aluminum boat. You must be hurting and bored...! Now, if you would please re- assess my property at Lake Davis, I will ignore the mis- take you have made with my boat ... you obviously have my address. Our home just isn't worth what it was two years ago and I seek a reduction in my property taxes. Perhaps you really meant to bring this inaccuracy to my at- tention instead of toiling over my old boaff I think you need more to do these days. You gave me until May 1, to send in the boat information; I'll give you thirty days to reassess my property; fair is fair. Dr. Trent Saxton Portola Supporter I have known Greg Hagwood since the early 1990s. The first time I met him, he had just completed testimony at a crim- inal hearing I was impressed with how he conducted himself on the witness stand. He was poised, clear and dignified a true professional. After I got to know him bet- ter and ask his thoughts about law enforcement, I had a much better idea of why he handled himself so well that day and on so many occasions thereafter. Greg is prepared and thorough and, equally im- portant, he understands and respects the law. Over, the past 16 years, I have become acquainted with his skill, depth of knowledge and fair- ness as well as his love for Plumas County. As Greg has gained experi- ence in law, enforcement and has earned various promo- tions, it became increasingly apparent to me that Greg Hag- wood would someday de- servedly be elected Plumas County Sheriff-Coroner. That day has arrived. The Plumas County Board of Supervisors agree, having ap- pointed Greg t6 the position in January to finish the final 12 months of the elected four-year term of the previous sheriff, who retired one year early. I know for certain the supervi- sors did not take the decision lightly because the appoint- ment would have a major im- pact on both law enforcement and the community. With the primary election on June 8, the decision has rightfully been in placed in the voters' hands. The time has come to elect Greg Hag- wood as our sheriff-coroner. Dave Keller Quincy
