Mystery Brown Feather River College Enactus The students of Enactus invite the wonderful folks of Quincy to join us in fundraising for an upcoming trip to Uganda by.providing an all-you-can-eat spaghetti and meatball dinner including a tenderly tossed green dinner sMad, your choice of dressings, with freshly made garlic bread. After feasting on the home-style cooking, a dessert auction will be for the sweet tooth. Dinner will be followed by the musical charm of Karaoke by Naoki, an Enactus student that plans on joining other Enactus Students and Amy Schulz, advisor for Enactus, on the upcoming Ugandan trip. The Elks Lodge on Main Street in East Quincy is the spot for the festivities Saturday night, April 26. It's Saturday night so we're going to stay out late; the fundraiser is from 6 to 11 p.m. We want everyone to have plenty 0ftime to eat, socialize, win a bid on a favorite dessert at the auction and be merry while being surrounded by the comfort the Elks Lodge provides. Why is Enactus sponsoring a fundraiser? It is to help defray the, travel expenses. Several years ago, Amy Schulz, Enactus advisor, started the Ugandan Project as a means of exposing her project students to life-changing learning. The hands-on approach not only re-enforces the skills taught to students in Enactus, it also inspires new ways of thinking utilizing the tools and resources available to solve problems, such as the low-cost water pipeline from a clean well to the village. Entrepreneurial skills were introduced to the people, enabling this area to become proactive in its economic growth. Young women were not permitted to attend school during menstruation; one po wor entrepreneur addressed the issue. Now the young women are able to attend full time without interruption. Health outreach was also brought to this village by Enactus being involved. These students raise money throughout the year for different projects. This fundraiser plus dessert auction is to help defray a portion of the travel expense for the students. There are no subsidies for the Uganda,Project students. They pay for all their travel expenses, around $3,000 per person, out of pocket. Help these Enactus students to help others by purchasing tickets for the event. Presale ticket prices will be $8 for an adult and $5 for children 11 years or younger. Presale tickets are available from any Enactus member and select businesses in Quincy. Tickets will be $12 per adult at the door the night of the in Ugan event and $5 for children 11 years or younger. We are looking forward to seeing all you friendly folks there. Don't forget to tune up your vocal chords for Karaoke by Naoki. The Enactus members going to Uganda will also be there to answer any questions you may have for them.
