2C Wednesday, April 25, 2012 Bulletin, Record, Progressive, Reporter Golden Eagles capture sixth consecutive title The Feather River College Golden Eagles  captured their sixth consecutive Golden Valley •Conference championship Wednesday, April 18, by sweeping Col- lege of the Siskiyous by scores of 12-0 and 13-6. The Golden Eagles not on- ly secured their sixth con- secutive championship, but will also now host the Re- gional playoffs Saturday and Sunday, May 5 - 6, against an opponent to be an- nounced Sunday, April 29, by the CCCBCA office. With the sweep, the Gold- en Eagles are now 26-5 over- all and 14-3 in the Golden Valley Conference. Photo by Shannon Morrow freshman Matt Thomas. Thomas threw a complete game, tossing seven shutout innings, allowing five hits and striking out five batters in his first collegiate start. The offense provided all the support Thomas would need, as the Golden Eagles jumped out to a 7-0 lead after two innings. The Golden Ea- gles offense pounded out 13 hits in game one, as sopho- more Austin Bali led the way with four hits and three RBIs. Freshman Justin Bohn added three hits, four runs scored and two RBIs, and fellow freshman Alden Goebel added two hits and three RBIs for the Golden Eagles. Game two started similar to game one for the Golden Eagles, as they scored six times in the top of the first inning on their way to the 13-6 victory. The Golden Eagles offense exploded with 18 hits in game two, as sophomore Paul Cagle and freshman Brock Asher each had four hits in the game. Cagle and Asher also added two RBIs and sopho- mores Sean Ryanand Naea Kalehuawehe added two hits each as well. On the mound, the Golden Eagles used four pitchers, as freshman Jace Puckett picked up the victory. The four pitchers for the Golden Eagles combined to strike out 11 hitters and walk one in the nine innings. Three days later, Feather River hosted Butte College for a doubleheader and swept the Roadrunners with a 13-6 win in game one and a 19-9 win in game two last Saturday, April 21.
