The committee meets quar- terly to review the hospital's semi-annual bond payments. After an interest-only payment Feb. 1, the outstanding balance is $923,297. The next payment, $188,645, is due Aug. 1, 2012. Lafferty told the committee that it might be possible to in- clude the bond debt service in the rmancing for his scaled-back upgrade proposal: a two-year, $9.5 million building and ren- ovation project. Lafferty's plan incorporates the same building footprint as the original proposal, without a second floor, on the west side of the hospital. The CEO emphasized that the plan is still in the early stages: "We have to get it on the table or it will never hap- pen." Lafferty also promised full disclosure and plenty of opportunity for public com- ment. The hospital's board of di- rectors has called a special meeting for May 10, 9 a.m. in the administration confer- ence room, to continue its dis- cussion of its plan.
