In addition, the Disaster Recovery Initiative fORt) Grant Program will be discussed. Maximum award limits for each CDBG allo- cation and the DRI program are specified in the respective Notices of Funding Availability (NOFA). The doUar amount of General, Colonies, and Native American allocation funds available varies each year, and a grant from these allocations does not count toward any yeady caps under the Economic Development or Planning and Technical Assistance alloca- tions of the CDBG Program. The major activity CDBG categories are Homeownership Assistance, Housing Rehabilitation, Public Facilities, Public Services, and Public Improvements activi- ties. Projects funded with CDBG General, Native American, and/or Colonias Allocations must meet the National Objective of Benefit to Targeted Income Group (TIC) persons. The DRI program funding will address the impacts from the 2008 wildfire disaster resulting in an emergency management dis- aster declaration (FEMA 3287-EM). Activities to be funded under the DRI pro- gram include: Housing/infrastructureeconomic recovery and revitalization. The development of forward-thinking land- use planning, hazard area buy-out pro- grams, mitigation measures to improve resi- dential properties making them less prone to damage, and other smart strategies incorpo- rated into recovery activities. Join the group for the first-ever Lost Sierra Trail Daze, a super trail event to not only mark National Trail Days, but also to celebrate and work with partners in the group's ongoing mission to build and maintain trails. SBTS will host volunteer work crews on multiple trail projects throughout the Plumas and Tahoe national forests. Trails include Lake Davis, Mills Peak and Cray- croft Ridge. Volunteers will meet crew leaders at designat- ed staging areas near the work sites at 9:30 a.m. Break- fast, sack lunch and refresh- ments will be provided. Justin Kooyman, from the Pacific Crest Trail Associa- tion, will lead a volunteer trail crew to restore a section of the Pacific Crest Trail near the Lakes Basin Recreation Area. Volunteers will meet at the Long Lake trailhead at 9:30 a.m. Breakfast, sack lunch and refreshments will be provided. Feather River Trout Unlim- ited will partner on the trails day event by providing a creek cleanup along the Feather River for several hours Saturday afternoon. The city of Portola will bring its enormous bounce house to promote its Railroad Days event The Rusty Evans Band, a high-quality Johnny Cash cov- er band, will perform 7 - 9 p.m. on the Green in Graeagle. Volunteers can enjoy free camping Friday and Saturday nights, June 4 - 5, in down- town Graeagle. Local restau- rant owners will serve a post- work barbecue of jerk chicken and pulled pork sandwiches. You can check out the improvements the Forest Service has made to recreation sites in the Stor- rie Fire area. The Mr. Hough Ranger Dis- trict has completed almost 25 miles of trail maintenance and repair with help from partners in the area ravaged by the fire. Volunteers from the Back Country Horsemen, Student Conservation Associ- ation and AmeriCorps assist- ed with the maintenance and restoration of the trails. Fourteen miles of the Pacif- ic Crest Trail from the south- ern border of the Lassen Na- tional Forest to the Three Lakes Trail; 4.2 miles of the Chambers Creek Trail; and 6 miles of the Indian Springs Trail have been restored to al- low hikers safe access through these areas. Signage for the trails has been replaced to make them user friendly and to encour- age use by experienced and beginning hikers. The campgrounds at Gansner Bar, Queen Lily, North Fork and Hallstead re- ceived the new maintenance- free picnic tables. Forest visitors can expect to see more trail improvements in the next year thanks to fed- eral economic recovery funds. The forest received $150,000 for a bridge on the Cascade Trail near Quincy, $150,000 for trail work in the Lakes Basin Recreation Area out- side of Graeagle, $250,000 for work on the Pacific Crest Trail and a whopping $1 mil- lion for trail recon.struction and maintenance exclusive of the PCT. The forest also received $250,000 for restoration of the Crocker Guard Station; $1 million for water systems, other repairs and mainte- nance at campgrounds; $1 mil- lion for water system replace- ment, other repairs and im- provements at Frenchman Lake campgrounds; and $610,000 for similar work at Lake Davis campgrounds. Over near Oroville, the De- partment of Fish and Game is offering a final tour Saturday, May 15, of the waterfalls and wildflowers of Table Moun- tain. Two-hour tours begin at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. There is no fee, but any donations will benefit the California Wildlife Foundation. Registration is not required, but each tour is limited to 20 people. Lassen Chapter of the California Native Plant Society is planning an outing Saturday, June 5, to the Big Sky Country of Eastern Plumas National Forest. The group plans to drive to Taylorsville and then follow the canyon along upper Indi- an Creek looking for roadside flowers. The group will skirt Antelope Lake and drive up and on a broad plateau area, passing in and out of a num- ber of lush flower-filled moun- tain meadows, making stops to view the plants close up.
