Bulletin, Record, Progressive, Reporter Wednesday, May 29, 2013 5C Swarms of volunteers pitch in to help build a trail at the 2010 National Trails Day celebration along the Graeagle pathway, hosted by the Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship. The stewardship plans to hold a similar workday this year, tackling multiple trail projects. Photo submitted All are welcome to join the Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship, in partnership with the Plumas and Tahoe national forests, for a "super" trail daze" event to not only Celebrate National Trails Day, but to celebrate and work on the ongoing mission to maintain the trails in and around the Sierra Buttes. Volunteers can help SBTS meet its volunteer match and celebrate the trails that they love. The volunteer workday is set for June 1, starting at 9 a.m. The event starts where volunteers meet the SBTS crew: at the Graeagle Green. Bagels, sack lunches and refreshments will be provided. Trail work will continue until 2 p.m., followed by an after-work celebration in Graeagle from 2 to 6 p.m. The day ends with live music by Jelly Bread, presented in part by Plumas Arts. In addition, there will be a Community Exp.o and a bouncy castle for the kids. Smokey Bear and a Forest Service fire engine will also be making an appearance. This event is free, and is appropriate for people of all". ages and abilities. It's a way to support the Wails, give back to the community and meet other trail enthusiasts. Free camping is available in downtown Graeagle on both Friday and Saturday nights for those who want to make a weekend out of it. SBTS will be hosting three different volunteer work crews on multiple trail projects located throughout the Plumas and T oe national forests, including a project for "trail kids" ages 5 and up. Trail locations include Grassy Lake Trail, Long Lake Trail and a Feather River Trout Unlimited "River Walk Clean Up" along the Feather River in Portola.
