14B Wednesday, July 9, 2014 Bulletin, Record, Progressive, Reporter The Mohawk Community Resource Center in Blairsden is excited to offer a four-week smnmer series of art instruction classes. Charcoal drawing with Tammy Ann Masters will be held Mondays from i to 3:30 p.m. beginning July 14. The cost for participation is $11/class for drop-ins, or $40 for the whole series. Anyone wishing to explore his or her creativity through this medium will gain experience with drawing techniques and have the opportunity to develop his or her own style. The class is open to all levels of experience, and those with no drawing experience are welcome. The class will focus on drawing techniques and working from a still life, and will include plenty of individual attention. Participants are welcome to share ideas and help guide the direction of the class. Tammy Ann" Masters specializes in figure drawing and portraits, though oil painting has been another of her passions. She has done several commissioned art pieces and loves the challenge of capturing the emotion of the moment. She has shoWn her work at Lassen Community College in Susanville and the Plumas-Sierra County Fair, Pangaea Car6 and Pub (during its student art shows), the Eagle's Nest and the Mafia Street Artists Gallery in Quincy. She has been a member of the Lassen County Arts Council, Main Street Artists and the Plumas County Arts Commission. A supply list for the class is available at MCRC and supplies can be purchased locally at Forest Stationers in Quincy. The instructor will have a couple sets of supplies available for purchase the day of class, at a cost of about$10. Call ahead to reserve a set. MCRC is a service of the larger nonprofit organization Plumas Rural Services and provides activities and advocacy for residents of eastern Plumas County, including six different exercise classes (yoga, line dancing, Pilates, tai chi, tribal belly dance and low impact); several courses, activities and social functions; and support groups. MCRC also serves as a meeting space for eastern Plumas County. A coordinator is on site to assist individuals and families with special needs through referrals and direct assistance. Programs and activities are continually expanding to further meet the needs of the community. A lending library, Internet access, computers, printers and fax services are also available to the public. MCRC is located next to The Barn at the intersection of highways 70 and 89, and is open Monday - Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and for all other scheduled Programs and activities.
