"If I can make someone's life a little easier in some way, or provide some degree of comfort in some small way then I feel I've made a difference," Cristina said. She added that she wished she could have joined the department and become a member of its family years ago. "I've always felt that being a member of the department is a privilege and never something I've taken for granted. I feel lucky to be a volunteer for QFD," she said. Chief Cassou said Cristina joined the department in 2012 and has distinguished herself as a highly motivated and dedicated member of the fire department family.
