Everly weighed 6 pounds, 8 ounces and was 18.75 inches in length. Maternal grandparents are Dana Galloway, of Quincy, and Laurinda Dabner, of Quincy. Paternal grandparents are Richard Taylor, of Quincy, and the late Ken Galloway. Great-grandparents are Vivian Hansen, of Quincy, the late Merv Hansen, Louise Miller, of Quincy, and Patricia Taylor, of Trinity. LoraJane Patricia Hardee LoraJane Patricia Hardee was born to Eliza and Kyle Hardee, of Quincy, on Aug. 2, 2014, at 9:42 a.m. at Plumas District Hospital in Quincy. LoraJane weighed 6 pounds, 8 ounces and was 19 inches in length. Maternal grandparents are Pamela and Robert Greene, of Cromberg. Paternal grandparents are Jim and Lea Hardee, of Tetonia, Idaho, and Teresa Gray, of Graeagle. Great-grandarents are Agnes Hardee, of Marysville, Lee Limond, of Redding, and Don and Pat Masters, of Auburn. Lucy Curnow OBITUARIES Karen Jean Thurman Adami Karen Jean Thurman Adami, age 63, of Clearlake, (previously of Portola) passed away suddenly in her home on Sunday, July 20, 2014. Karen was born on Nov. 24, 1950, in LaJolla to Winifred (Duncan) Thurman and Graydon Thurman. She was the eldest of six children. Karen grew up in South San Francisco. She was a 1968 graduate of South San Francisco High School where she was in chorus and drama, perfOrming in many of the school's plays and musicals. She is survived by her daughter Heather Adami of Sparks, Nevada; son Jason Thurman of Eureka; grandson Christopher Stanton of Sparks, Nevada, and granddaughter Lillie Anna Thurman, of Reno, Nevada; mother Winifred Bradshaw, of Show Low, Arizona; step-father Thomas Kotta, of Reno, Nevada; sisters Helen Brouillette (Paul, deceased) of Haverhill, Massachusetts, Wanda Cheso and Irene Kotta Ohle, both of Clearlake, and Julie Brunetto (Sal), of San Diego. Her uncle Robert (Bobby) Duncan (Pat) passed away four days after Karen. Karen's faith was in Jesus Christ and we know that one day we shall meet her again. A one-year memorial service is planned for Karen to be held in Portola on July 18, 2015. Michael Joseph Culbert ,.:, Michael J. Culbert "Mike," 74, died Friday, Aug. 8, 2014, of a lengthy illness in Reno, Nevada, with his loving family surrounding him. Mike was born March 28, 1940, in.East Ely, Nevada, to,, ,, William Gerald "Jerry" Culbert and Elsa Cortes Culbert. He graduated from White Pine County High School in 1958. He was the youngest Eagle Scout in the state of Nevada upon completion of his Eagle project. Mike attended the University of Pacific (UOP) in Stockton where, as a freshman, he was a first chair trumpet player with the University band, and considered a major in music before deciding on'a career as a pharmacist. Mike graduated from UOP's School of Pharmacy in 1963. He worked as a pharmacist in Eureka, Fairfield and Vacaville before moving his family to Portoia where he purchased Kehoe Pharmacy from Jack Kehoe in 1976. Mike owned and operated the business until his retirement in 2010. Mike was a pillar in the Portola community where he often made trips to the pharmacy late into the evening to help a neighbor in need. He was an active member of Portola's Rotary, and he played the trumpet numerous years with the Feather River Jazz Band. Recognizing the value of small town roots. Mike and his brothers donated their father's drug store in McGill, Nevada, to the White Pine Historical Society where it serves as a living history museum. Mike married Paulette in 2000 where the two enjoyed exploring the mountains they loved so dearly, fishing together, running the family business and spending time with family and friends. In addition to his wife Paulette. Mike is survived by his brothers Dr. Steven (Susan) Culbert, of Houston, Texas, and Dan (Barbara) Culbert. of Carson City, Nevada; former wife and mother of his three children Jan Culbert, of Grass Valley; his three children Dr. Greg (Dorothea) of Eagle River, Alaska. Scott of Portola, daughter-in law Stacy Shafton Culbert, of Reno, Nevada, Susie (Jon) Smith, of Rocklin, and step-daughter Rebecca (Chris) Collins. of Portola; eight grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents and stepdaughter Julie Bowling.. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Mike's name to the Portola Rotary Scholarship Foundation. Services will be at lp.m. on Saturday, Aug. 16, at Portola Station Baptist Church. A private burial will follow at Whispering Pines Cemetery. Services entrusted to Manni Funeral Home of Portola. Brett Emmalin Lausen Brett Emmalin Lausen died peacefully in the arms of her family and friends on Aug. 6, 2014, at 1:15 p.m. Brett was born Aug. 6, 2014, at 8:12 a.m. She weighed 4 pounds, 8 ounces, and measured 18-3/4 inches long.
