IOA Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2009 Feather River Bulletin Fowl play: Group prepares for fundraiser Jeanie Jones Staff Writer Since 1937, Ducks Unlim- ited, a private waterfowl and wetlands conservation organization, has been rais- ing funds to preserve water- fowl and wetlands. In its efforts to improve the environment, not only for waterfowl, but also for everyone else, members have worked to recharge and purify groundwater, moderate floods and reduce soil erosion. Members of Ducks Unlim- ited define themselves as a grassroots, volunteer-based organization. The largest fundraising event for Ducks Unlimited is the annual benefit dinner and auction. "In the past three years, this event has been voted the most efficient dinner in the state of California," said Ducks Unlimited District Chairman, Eric Rudgers. Active in wetlands and waterfowl conservation since 1937, Ducks Unlimited, a nonprofit organi- zation, has raised millions of dollars for the conservation of birds and waterfowl through speCial events and fundraisers throughout the nation.
