Works of Anna Shea on display During the month of September, Main Street ~: ; Artists Gallery will be presenting the work of its newest member, Anna Shea, with a show of an array of photography, watercolors and oil paintings based on her extensive travels. A native of Quincy, Anna has wanted to be an artist since the age of 4, and received instruction early on from local artists Kathy Bachman and Lennie Herndon through the curriculum at Plumas Christian School. "Lily Closeup," print on aluminum, 8"x10," by Anna Shea. "Yellow Bud" photograph on aluminum, 8"x12," by Anna Shea, the featured artist at the Main Street Artists Gallery in Quincy through September. Later, she learned about depicting movement, shading, bounced light and other techniques from Greenville artist Russ Flint, a master of those elements. While pursuing her English literature degree, Anna spent her sophomore year in Horence, Italy. Later, she taught at Plumas Christian School. She went on to receive a master's degree in theology in history from the University of Edinborough, Scotland, which was an intellectually stimulating experience, according to Shea. From there, Anna spent three years at Cornell University at Ithaca, NY, providing spiritual counsel and support for students pursuing their faith. Since June 2017, Anna has been reconnecting with her roots in Quincy, happy to be on home turf to digest all the experiences of travel, which she found to be "good for the SOul." Like her brother Graham (also an artist at MSA), Anna has a pilot's license, but is no longer an active pilot. She plans to live in Quincy and keep her options open regarding plans, taking time to hone her artistic skills and share her experiences with the community through photography and Eme art. Also appearing as guest artist during September will be Vivian Olds, a photographer, teacher and owner of Desert Light Art Gallery in Wadsworth, Nevada, which is housed in a Yurt. Vivian also teaches at Arts For All Nevada in Reno. The opening will be Friday, Sept. 7, from 5 to 7 p.m at the gallery located at 436 Main St. in Quincy. Complimentary wine and appetizers will be served.
