Bulletin, Record, Progressive, Reporter Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2015 lC AND in soccer " squ The Quincy girls' soccer team played the Portola co-ed soccer squad to a 2-2 tie last Thursday, Oct. 1, with Lady Trojan Autumn Brawley scoring both of her team's goals for a brace. Portola scored first blood on a direct kick by Mikayla Quesenberry with 30 minutes left in the first haft. Quincy retuned fire, however, as Brawley made a clean shot into the net with 14 minutes remaining in the first. Tied 1-1 going into the second half, Portola's Gaby up Gomez rocketed a kick in at halfway through the period for the go-ahead goal. The Trojans would not stop playing hard and aggressive offense; Brawley earned a free kick and managed to squeeze one through the hands of both Quesenberry at defender and keeper Sydney Holt. Quincy keeper Apalonia Aguirre was busy most of the game and racked up 19 saves. Stats for saves by Holt were not available by press time. U The 9- and 10-year old Mountain Sluggers baseball team will be hosting a three-team tournament on Saturday, Oct. 10, at Rotary Field in Quincy. The Sluggers will be hosting the SusanviUe r Young Gunz and the Sparks Velocity in a round-robin tournament, with the top two teams playing for the championship at5 p.m. The Sluggers are set to play Young Gunz at 10 a.m. and Velocity at 3 p.m. If you want your sporting event or tournament listed in the newspaper, send an email to sports@plumas Deadline for submissions is Friday at 3p.m. All schedules subject to change.
