%W rm y, Oct 10, 2001 One man's leap of faith in alternative energy designs, devices By Alicia Higbee For Bill Battagin, going solar was a leap of faith. He not only wanted independence from being subject to power compa- ny whims and an erratic power sup- ply, Battagin wanted to lessen the negative impact of humans on the planet. Such a big goal happened gradu- ally for Battagin, who moved to Plumas County at the end of the 1970s. By 1982, he owned his own home and installed his first solar panel.
