Gwen moved to Portola from Susanville at the age of seven, when her father, Alvin Beyerle, opened Beyerle&apos;s Drug Store in Portola (later Kehoe Phar- macy). She was a 1947 gradu- ate of Portola High School. Gwen attended Sacramento College and worked for Cali- fornia Almond Growers as a secretary. In 1954, she mar- ried Stanley W. Harris. After her daughter, Melissa Har- ris, was born, Gwen worked as a homemaker in Sacra- mento until 1968. Gwen and Stan settled permanently in Belmont in 1970. Stan pre- ceded Gwen in death in 2005, after 51 years of marriage. She is survived by her daughter, Melissa Harris; son-in-law, Doug Kennedy and granddaughter Sydna Kennedy of Lake City; as well as cousins Richard Spaulding and Jay Spauld- ing, and his wife Lorita. A graveside service was held at the Cedarville Cemetery on Sept. 29. She will be missed by her friends from the Class of '47 and by her family. Roy passed away peacefully surrounded in love with his son, Robert, wife Nancy and his daughter Peggy, husband Rick. Roy is survived by his son Robert Gullingsrud (Nancy) in Waterford;-daughter Peg- gY/ Born (Rick) in Pacific Grove; stepson Irving (Lin- da) Weisner in Chesapeake, Va. and two stepdaughters, Linda Robinson (Tom) in Bend, Ore. and Ina New- house (Mike) in Middleton, Wis.; 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. His parents, five brothers, three sisters and two wives preceded Roy in death. Constance Stirling Beadle Constance Sterling Beadle was at peace when she passed Oct. 3, 2010 in Chico following a long illness. She and her family had recently celebrated her B5th birthday. Connie was born Sept. 21, 1925 in Palo Alto. She contin- ued to live in the Bay Area until World War II came along and she met a tall, skinny sailor from Brook- lyn, N.Y. Connie and Floyd W. Beadle celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary on Sept. i. After two stints in the Navy, Connie, Floyd and their growing family migrat- ed north to Susanville for a few years before they settled in Chico in the 1950s. During that time, Connie was em- ployed at KHSL-TV as a re- ceptionist and weather per- son. She was also active in community affairs and served as President of the Chico Junior Women's Club. Following retirement in the 1980s, Connie and Floyd took up year-round resi- dence at Lake Almanor and later established their cur- rent "winter home" in Corn- eng. Connie had a great gus- to for life and was an eternal optimist. She saw only the best in other people and was always the life of the party. She is, and will continue to be, sorely missed. Connie is survived by her husband Floyd of Corning and Lake Almanor; her son, Richard L. Beadle of Red Bluff; her daughter, Carol J. Caldwell of Olympia, Wash.; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandson. She was preceded in death by her mother, Helen C. Stir- ling of Chico; her sister, He- len Shelley of Red Bluff; her daughter, Susan G. Boyd of Sacramento; son-in-law, Bruce Caldwell of Friday Harbor, Wash. and her granddaughter, Allegra S. She was born June 18, 1944 in Sacramento, California to the late Andrew and Mildred (Niles) Van Melick. She mar- ried John Alexander and the couple was united in mar- riage On Feb. 5, 1963 in Car- son City, Nevada. To this union two daughters and one son were born. Following John's passing in 1976 Leta married Michael Olive in Reno, Nev. Oct. 20, 1978, and later di- vorced.
