Photo by Mari Erin Roth Mari Erin Roth Sports Editor The Trojans won over their rivals, the Portola Tigers, in a close 3-2 game Oct. 11 in Quincy. The individual game scores tell an exciting story. The first game went to the . Tigers, 25-15, roar! The Trojans came back in game two to win 25-22, then lose again in game three 26-24, wow. Crowds are always spoiled at a Quincy vs. Portola game with thrill after thrill of long rallies and hard won points. The fourth game eventually went to Quincy 25-19 and the tiebreaker game, number five, couldn't have been closer than the ending score of 16-14 for QHS. The Quincy girls' volleyball team continues to notch up wins on the Trojan record, 9-0 in the league before yesterday's home match against the Biggs Wolverines and 22-4 overan. The nine dynamite players on the Trojan team are captain Rachel Abramson, Autum Sherman, Katherine Dolan, captain Sydney Gott, Vivian Paige, Emmary Wingfield, Savanah Gay, Chyanne Morrison and Kara Jeffrey. That's it except for playoffs. The Trojans finished their season as big winners and at the top of the Mountain Valley League. The first playoff is QHS vs. East Nicolaus on Tuesday, Oct. 23. QHS athletes Sabina Winter, Jazzmyn Obryant and Kristin Murphy all scored for the Trojans. That makes an even four games won and zero lost for the mighty Quincy ladies. "Haley Stewart did a fantastic job as usual," said head QHS girls' soccer coach Jeff Brawley about the Trojan's goalie. The next game is tomorrow, Oct. 18, in Fall River against the tough Bulldogs. A match has been added to the schedule for the Trojans girls to meet the Portola co-ed team at PHS starting at 1 p.m Friday, Oct. 19, Dates with Sage Ridge and Fall River may be added.
