Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012 Bulletin, Record, Progressive, Reporter PAID ADVERTISEMENT ol ol uyers lamon er Antiques ing no By Sever Wonce STAFF WRITER SS Gold Buyers will be placing ads in the newspapers and on the radio this week asking people to bring in any old silver and gold coins made before 1970. Those that do bring in their coins will be able to speak with a specialist one- on-one and have their coins evaluated by the specialist. Offers will be made to purchase based on gold or silver content, the rarity of the coins, and key dates. The coins they want to see are 1964 and earlier Quarters, Dimes and Silver Dollars; as well as Half Dollars from 1969 and earlier. They will also look at "War" Nickels 1942-45, and any Nickels before 1939; Pennies from 1958 and earlier. Also, any and all Gold coins, even foreign gold coins can be collectible. Customers are encouraged to bring in any coins they think might fit into these categories; no need to spend hours sorting, as the specialists on hand will be able to sort them for you much quicker. "Just bring it all in, we can go through it with you and save you the time and trouble!" says Vinny Latham, coin collector and one of the specialists that will be on hand for the event. But coins are not all they will take a look at this week, customers can also sell their gold jewelry, dental gold, or anything else made of gold, as well as silver jewelry, sterling flatware and tea sets, even investment gold and silver! Gold and silver prices are finally on the rise again after nearly a year of virtually no change, so even a little gold can bring in a good amount of money. Bring anything you think might be gold or silver and the SSGB Specialists will examine, test and price it for free. If you decide to sell, you will be paid immediately. If you are like a lot of people, you might have a few old coins hidden away in your sock drawer, or a jewelry box with some mismatched earrings and broken chains just collecting dust. This is your chance to have them evaluated and even sell them for a nice payday, if you choose. It is estimated that the average person has at least a few hundred dollars in coins and scrap gold just sitting in their house. And if you are one of the lucky few, even one coin could be worth much more than that! One ultra rare coin, an 1894 S Barber dime, sold for a record $1.9 million to a collector in July of 2007. Now while this is an extreme example, even the common coins can be worth a significant amount due to the high prices of gold and silver.
