Twenty hunters were drawn for each hunt by a lot- tery of hunters who sent ap- plications to the DFG in Sacramento. Local volunteers from the Sierra Valley Sportsmen Club and Headwater Honker Preserve provided dogs and handlers to help guide the hunts. Saturday morning's hunt was a great Success, as most hunters were able to go home with their two-bird limits. The afternoon hunt was more of a struggle, as gusty winds made it tough going. Every- body went home with at least one bird. Sunday was a tough day for some inexperienced juniors, who had plenty of op- portunities. The overall smiles on the hunter's faces were an indi- cation that they had fun. This was the first time that many of them had been hunting. Participants ranged in age from 9 to 16. Those five young hunters limited out Saturday morn- Ing, Oct. 27, at the Head- water Honker Preserve near Beckwourth.
