2C Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2015 Bulletin, Record, Progressive, Reporter Feather River College's men's and women's soccer teams ended their regular seasons Nov. 13 with losses to visiting Lassen College. The men's team lost 2-1, with Lassen scoring both of its goals late in the game. Lassen's women shut out the Lady Eagles, 1-0. • :' "There's not much to say," FRC coach Don Williams said the next day. "We just came out a little fiat." The FRC men's team went into the game with an 8-1 conference record. The Eagles needed to beat or tie Lassen to take the conference • championship. Williams said , the team may have come out onto the field a bit overconfident. Neither team was able to put one in the net during the first half. FRC's Ryan Birch field scored the Eagles' sole goal of the match off an assist by Dominic Docherty toward the start of the second half. Lassen's Louis Callaghan tied it midway through the second half with a 60-yard free kick that sailed over FRC goalkeeper Jacob Price's head. With only five minutes remaining, Lassen scored one more for the win. The loss gave Tahoe (8-1-1) the edge it needed to win the Golden Valley Conference. The FRC women's loss to Lassen gave Lassen an undefeated season in conference play. Lassen scored the only goal of the game Shortly before halftime. The loss dropped the Lady Eagles' overall record to 11-6-1 and their conference record to 7-2-1. The California Community College Athletic Association conducted the seeding for the playoffs Nov. 17, after this issue went to press. Williams said he was confident the men's team will continue into the playoffs, and was hopeful the women's team would as well.
