Cole was traveling in ex- cess of 90 mph when he hit the rear of a tractor trailer al- so traveling northbound. The collision caused Cole to lose control of the Jeep. It skidded out of control and went off the west side of the roadway. The Jeep rolled several times before coming to rest on its roof. Neither the driver nor his passenger were wearing seat belts. They were transported to Lassen Community Hospital. Cole was arrested at the time of the incident, which is under investigation. bmmc m No injuries were reported when a Loyalton resident hit a pole and a guardrail at the Long Valley Agriculture In- spection Station on Highway 395 Tuesday, Nov. 13, at 1:43 p.m. Joseph Grant Moseley, 49, was driving a 1990 Ford Tau- rus northbound on Highway 395. He was in the process of slowing down as he entered the inspection station, and was traveling at approxi- mately 10 mph in the No. 3 lane. Another vehicle was stopped in that lane,-when suddenly Moseley's brakes failed. Moseley pumped the brake pedal in an effort to get some braking action. Then he swerved to the right and drove past the stopped vehi- cle. The Taurus's right-side tires went up on the curb and then side, swiped a support pole and pedestrian guardrail. Moseley was able to stop his vehicle just north of the inspection station building. A hit and run was reported Friday, Nov. 9, at 5 p.m. in the parking lot in front of Safeway in Quincy. Richard Leal, 50, of Sacra- mento, parked his 1986 Nis- san Maxima in the north side of the parking lot, facing northbound. When he returned to his ve- hicle, he saw that the right rear of the vehicle had been hit by another vehicle. There was enough evidence to conclude that the Nissan had been struck while parked in the parkihg lot. However, there was no evi- dence at the scene to help identify the second vehicle. According to the CHP, the vehicle involved in the hit and run is probably a sedan with recent minor damage to the right front bumper. If anyone has any informa- tion on the incident, Contact the Quincy area CHP at 283- 1100. IHilgbway 70, stem' Squin Creek Road No lajuries were reported when two Loyalton teens were involved in a single-ve- hicle incident Friday, Nov. 9, at 2:45 a.m. Travis B. Skinner, 18, was driving a 1979 Datsun 280ZX westbound on Highway 70, east of Squirrel Creek Road. He said he was driving at 70 mph. After rounding a turn in the roadway, Skinner lost control of the Datsun. It be- gan to spin in a clockwise di- rection. The vehicle left the north roadway edge and struck a metal paddle marker. It then continued north as it spun and struck a chain link fence. It then spun off the fence and came to rest in the mid- die of the eastbound lane. Skinner said that the crash was caused because he swerved to miss a deer in the See CHP, page lore ..... - ..... .:. ~: 7 1997 #507715 B.1 Utre VB w. Allison Automatic, A/E. P/S. P/B. P-WA_/S. Tilt.
