Bulletin, Record, Progressive, Reporter Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2015 13B ARTS ,--1 ENTERTAINMENT The cast of "A Christmas Carol" rehearses for its eight- show run at the West End Theatre, Dec. 10 - 13, and 17 - 20. Photos submitted Holiday IC runs thru Dec. 20 at West End "A Christmas Carol" opens Thursday, Dec. 10, at the West End Theatre in Quincy. This unforgettable Christmas tale by Charles Dickens features local actors and a 1940s radio play format. The bitter old miser, Ebenezer Scrooge is visited by the Ghosts of Christmases past, present, and future who help transform him into a gentle, kind and caring man, Bob Crachit. Tiny Tim and other favorite characters will delight audiences of all ages in the retelling of this endearing traditional Christmas classic. Director Russ Rappel Schmid said, "As the West End Theatre's first Christmas show, we wanted to do something familiar and unique at the same time. This show accomplishes both of those goals. Everyone will recognize that 'squeezing, wrenching, grasping, scraping, clutching covetous old sinner' Mr. Ebeneezer Scrooge. "But few will recognize the old radio sound stage of the 1940s and the making of a 'live' radio show. We hope those that do recognize it are taken back to fond memories of a simpler time. And hopefully we'll spark some great family talk around the dinner table this Christmas of how things 'used to be.'" "A Christmas Carol" stars David Riley as Scrooge, Bruce Williams as arson Wells, Theresa Gallagher as the Ghost of Christmas Present, Tina Terrazes as the Ghost of Christmas Past, Bryan and Danielle Plocki as Bob and Mrs. Cratchit, Thea Nicoles as Tiny Tim and many other local actors. "A Christmas Carol" is a presentation of the West End Theatre Dec. 10 through 12, and 17 through 19, at 7 p.m. and Dec 13 and 20 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $18, general admission; $15, students and seniors 65 and older. Tickets are on sale at Carey Candy Co., West End Theatre Cafe and Moon's dinner and theatre packages can be purchased by contacting Moon's Restaurant at 283-9900. The director and.cast of "A Christmas Carol" hope that the radio play will spark nostalgia and an annual family tradition.
