Bulletin, Progressive, Record, Reporter Wednesday, Dec, 8, 2010 9B 'Full House' Bob at his unscri[00ted an,J clynamic Lauren Allen Coppercreek Camp Director Having Bob Saget and the production crew at camp for five days was quite an experi- ence. The show was unscripted so the crew was small, dynamic and moved quickly to capture spontaneous moments. Bob had a couple soundmen and cameramen around him all the time. Becky Hogland took care of most of the logistical requests from the crew and her hus- band, Craig, acted as our film- ing supervisor. Tijuana Productions ini- tially contacted us in early June, and after much reas- surance they were not out to "punk" us or the kids, we ,agreed. The crew picked a fun group of 12- to 13-year-old boys and their counselor for Saget to work with. Most of the filming revolved around the boys and their adven- tures. This particular group was part of our Junior Trek pro- gram. With the Junior Trek girls, the group went rock., climbing, canoeing, camping, riding, did the ropes course, and participated in drama and the talent show. We have no idea wlfat the end result will look like but from the filming they did, we are hoping it will show the nation how wonderful and im- portant the summer camp ex- perience is for children and what a beautiful place Plumas County is. Saget and his crew were great. They were all very re- spectful and hardworking people. After the initial shock of cameras and sound booms joining our meals and activi- ties, business and play re- sumed pretty much as usual. It was exhausting, but after the week wrapped up, we ac- tually felt connected with Bob and the crew. I thought it showed the campers and staff what in- credibly hard work it is to put on a show. It all looks so easy when you sit down to watch TV, but the behind-the-scenes work is relentless. And yes, Saget was definite- ly on his best behavior and was the "Full House" Bob. The boys primarily filmed with Bob were Zach Lusby of Oregon, Leo Daverson of Chico, Marek Bochnik of Hang Kong and Taryn Lind of Taylorsville. Their counselor was Sean Willson-Schafer, a student at Lewis and Clark in Oregon. I think many of our campers will be in the show. People should keep an eye out for more local campers and staff in the filming. There were many. Coppercreek 'Camp kids, directors and staff members gather in one big group with Bob Saget and the whole production crew for a special photo op at week's end. "Strange Days with Bob Saget: Homesick at Summer Camp" airs Tuesday, Dec. 14, at 10 p.m. and Wednesday, Dec. 15, at 2 a.m. Check lo- cal listings to make sure times and dates haven't changed. Saget, most famous for his roles in "America's Funniest Home Videos" and "Full House," travels the country to immerse himself in different cultures. He joins some Bigfoot hunters, the pro-wrestling circuit, hardcore bikers and a fraternity rush, just for starters. 'Tve always been interested in the underbelly of any- thing," said Sager, "But what I truly enjoy is diving beneath the surface of a subculture that may appear to be one thing, but ends up being something completely unexpected." His experience as a camp counselor here, where the Sierra Nevada meets the Cas- cades, is sure to be interesting.
