By Shannon Morrow Sports Editor Chester High School had two wrestlers place at the Northeastern Classic wrestling tournament at Modoc High School in A1- turas Dec. 7-8. Matt Maumoynier won first place for the Volcanoes in the 171-lb. weight class, go- ing 6-0 with five pins. His per- formance earned him the Most Valuable Player award. Chester's Chris Aust se- cm'ed third place in the 125- lb. weight class, going 6-1 with four pins. Team duals were held the first day. Chester beat Big Valley, 24-18, and lost to Por- tola, 16-24. In overall team placing, the Volcanoes took 10th place out of 22 schools from three dif- ferent states. Chester also re- ceived the award for most sportsmanlike team in the tournament. At the Durham wrestling tournament last week, Aust captured first place at 125 lbs. and Nick Anderson took fifth place at 119 lbs. The Volcanoes will travel to Modesto this weekend to participate in the Western In- vitational.
